#InstaInspo: Capturing content with teeth in Dinosaurs of Patagonia

Big back drops, toothy smiles and bones to boot – there’s more than a few photo opportunities awaiting visitors to Dinosaurs of Patagonia.

With just over one month to go until the incredible Dinosaurs of Patagonia exhibition leaves Queensland Museum for their next destination, now is the time to capture your best memories of these international prehistoric treasures. Here are our picks for snap-worthy scenes in Dinosaurs of Patagonia.

Teeth

There’s a set of teeth around every corner of the exhibition including giant, real fossilised fangs that were found at the dig site in Patagonia. The Therapod section at the beginning of the exhibition is a particularly good place to find factually sharp angles and shadows that will give you content with teeth!

Time

Studying the lines formed in a fossilised bone from millions of years ago is truly mesmerising. To think we have the opportunity in 2023 to see the actual, real-life bone that belonged to a giant creature in a world that existed millions of years before we humans did is part of what makes dinosaurs so fascinating to us and this exhibition so extraordinary.

These ‘time lines’ formed by pressure and movement in the Earth’s crust over millions of years makes for an exceptionally unique macro photo opportunity.

Tiny to titans

While Patagotitan towers over the exhibition and leaves visitors in awe, the smallest dinosaurs bring imaginations to life with many measuring around the same size as a pet dog.

The size discrepancy between the dinosaurs featured in the exhibition is astonishing and there’s great detail to be found in both. We humbly challenge anyone with a wide lens to fit Patagotitan in their frame, and of course recommend using a person, big or small, for scale.

Don’t miss visiting Dinosaurs of Patagonia on Level 3 of the museum before they go extinct, again! The exhibition must close Monday 2 October. Share your photos with us on social media by tagging #PatagoniaQM and @qldmuseum.
