These school holidays, visit Queensland Museum as we explore all things dive in to a range of interactive experiences for the whole family!
Last days of Sea Monsters: Prehistoric Ocean Predators
Don’t miss your last chance to visit our latest exhibition Sea Monsters: Prehistoric Ocean Predators. Discover more about the giant ancient marine reptiles that hunted the depths of the ocean and see how our palaeontologists are unearthing new technologies to document our prehistoric past.
Get up close to live sea creatures
Make a splash and meet live sea creatures in our special event Under the Sea. Together with Ocean Life Education, you’ll explore with live touch tanks with sea creatures such as a sea cucumber, sea urchin or even a baby shark. Learn what makes each animal amazing, from their shapes and colours, to how they feed, move and protect themselves.
Experience Sea Monsters by torchlight
As the sun begins to set, and the lights go off, the creatures of the deep come to life in a special tour of Sea Monsters by torchlight. Be guided by one of our museum educators on a journey back in time and through the exhibition to explore the huge ancient predators that once ruled the oceans.
Daily sessions at the Discovery Centre
Our Discovery Centre offers Daily Discoveries focus talks (Monday- Friday 11am and 2pm) and Meet our Curator sessions (Wednesday, 7 & 14 April at 1pm). These free drop-in sessions use collection objects, stories, research experiences and opportunities to ask questions, giving visitors insight into what happens behind-the-scenes or in the field. We lift the lid on museum practices, while visitors have a chance to meet the people behind the exhibits – those who serve as custodians of our state’s natural and cultural collections.
